One of the toughest projects as a designer is decided how you would like to brand yourself. From the projects you take on to representing you as a person, your branding becomes an essential part of your identity.
The branding for TMC Visual Design takes inspiration from myself as a designer in the literal sense. From the logo to the letterhead, the design intentionally mimics who I am as I go through the design process. This branding is an amalgamation of personal and external interpretations of myself. One friend commented that I remind them of collectible figurines, just a “little dude” doing their best as they make their way through everyday tasks. I took this idea and ran with it, creating a mini-me to represent myself in my branding. Elements of my design style present themself through rounded fonts and simple yet interesting vectors. I decided to use my middle initial as there is another “Tessa Collinson” who is a film director, and I wanted to uniquely distinguish myself with my online presence.
My branding does not necessarily reflect the type of work I would like to take on as designer. As an emerging designer, I still create in a diverse variety of styles that one specific one could not encompass all that I am interested in. Though I have no doubt this will change, my personal identity will grow as I evolve.
